Fast Fact

African American women tend to be diagnosed with breast cancer at a younger age than white women.  The median age at diagnosis for African American women is 59, compared to 63 for white women.

This October, Be More Than Pink®

There are lots of great ways to join Komen North Texas and show that you're More Than Pink® this October (and year-round!).  Whether you advocate, donate, or participate, you can make a real difference in the fight against breast cancer.  Consider hosting your own fundraising event, inviting Komen North Texas to host a breast health lunch and learn at your office, or signing up for the Wichita Falls Race for the Cure.  No step is too small in the fight against breast cancer.  Remember - it all adds up!

Komen North Texas Updates

	Wichita Falls Race for the Cure® Registration Open The Race will be on Saturday, October 14th at the MPEC in downtown Wichita Falls.  Once you get registered, keep an eye on your email - we'll be sending you special information about fundraising incentives and awards!  Register here.
	We Want to Hear Your Story Breast cancer affects us all.  Whether you're a survivor, co-survivor, Race supporter, or just eager to end breast cancer - we want to hear from you!  Sharing your story can be healing for you while offering hope to others.  Submit your story here, and it may appear in an upcoming email or even on our website.
	Save the Date - North Texas Giving Day On September 14th, you can make your dollar stretch farther when you donate to our organization on NorthTexasGivingDay.org between 6am and midnight.  Thanks to Communities Foundation of Texas, your donation will be matched by bonus funds and prizes.  Mark your calendars, and get up and give!

National Partnerships

	Wacoal Fit for the Cure® This year marks the 17th anniversary of Wacoal’s Fit for the Cure® program benefiting Susan G. Komen®! For every woman who gets a professional bra fitting at an event, Wacoal will donate $2 to Komen (no purchase is necessary). Wacoal will also donate $2 to Komen for every Wacoal bra, shapewear item or b.tempt’d bra purchased at these events with a guaranteed minimum donation of $250,000 in 2017.  Learn more.
	Be Bold. Be Fearless. For Just One Day. Because every action - big or small - makes a difference in our fight, even if you can't walk all 60 miles of the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, you can have an impact.  Walk for one day, 20 miles and join the people who are ending breast cancer.  Learn more.
	Bank of America Pink Ribbon Banking For each new Pink Ribbon credit card benefiting Susan G. Komen opened, Komen receives a minimum of $3 and 0.08% of all net retail purchases made with the card.  For example, 8 cents for every $100.  Komen also receives $3 for each renewal of a card that was in good standing during the 12 month period and does not have a zero balance at the time of the renewal.  For more information, click here.

Wichita Falls Race for the Cure Committee We need help planning the Race!  If you want to join the Race planning committee, please email us at racevolunteer@komennorthtexas.org.

Calling All Crafters If you love scrapbooking, decoupage, hot glue, and paint, you'd love the Elizabeth's Garden Committee!  We're looking for individuals to help us decorate tulips and butterflies that are purchased and then placed in Elizabeth's Garden on Race day.  For examples of last year's tulips and butterflies, click here.  If you're interested in joining, please email volunteer@komennorthtexas.org.
