Mission Moments

	Fast Fact December 3rd was International Day of Persons with Disabilities.  Women with disabilities tend to get screened for breast cancer less often than women without disabilities.  Some unique barriers they may face are:  transportation to screening, wheelchair access, and the height of the mammography equipment.  For more information, click here.
	Research Spotlight - San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium This week, 7,500 people from more than 90 countries are gathering in San Antonio to share state-of-the-art information on the experimental biology, prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of breast cancer.  You can follow the conversation on Komen's Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Komen North Texas Updates

	Komen North Texas Grantees Komen North Texas is currently investing in four organizations - Asian Breast Health Outreach Project, Bridge Breast Network, Moncrief Cancer Institute, and North Central Texas Community Healthcare Center - that provide breast health education, screening, diagnostics, and treatment to women and men in our community who have little or no insurance.  To learn more about these organizations, click here.
	We Want to Hear Your Story Breast cancer affects us all.  Whether you're a survivor, co-survivor, Race supporter, or just eager to end breast cancer - we want to hear from you!  Sharing your story can be healing for you while offering hope to others.  Submit your story here, and it may appear in an upcoming email or even on our website.
	Holiday Hours The Komen North Texas office will be closed Wednesday, December 20th through Tuesday, January 3rd.  If you have an urgent question/request during that time, please email info@komennorthtexas.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible.  Otherwise, we will be back in the office on Wednesday, January 3rd.  Have a happy and healthy holiday!

	Tee Off Fore the Cure Timber Links Golf Club in Denton is hosting a Rally for the Cure this Saturday, December 9th, with proceeds benefiting Komen North Texas.  Fees are $80 per player and include 18 holes with a cart, a sleeve of golf balls, and bottle water.  For more information, click here.

National Partnerships

Bank of America Pink Ribbon Banking For each new Pink Ribbon credit card benefiting Susan G. Komen opened, Komen receives a minimum of $3 and 0.08% of all net retail purchases made with the card.  For example, 8 cents for every $100.  Komen also receives $3 for each renewal of a card that was in good standing during the 12 month period and does not have a zero balance at the time of the renewal.  For more information, click here.

Volunteer Opportunities

Love to Sing? Are you a breast cancer survivor who loves to sing?  We'd love to have you join the Komen North Texas Voices of Hope.  This choir is open to any survivor living in the North Texas area, and they perform at local Komen events, professional sports leagues' games, and community events.  For more information, please email info@komennorthtexas.org.

Calling All Crafters If you love scrapbooking, decoupage, hot glue, and paint, you'd love the Elizabeth's Garden Committee!  We're looking for individuals to help us decorate tulips and butterflies that are purchased and then placed in Elizabeth's Garden on Race day.  For examples of last year's tulips and butterflies, click here.  If you're interested in joining, please email volunteer@komennorthtexas.org.
